About Operation Maths

A qualified teacher with years of classroom and private tuition experience, creating resources that actually work.

Fay, qualified maths tutor and teacher

Hi, I'm Fay

I am a qualified teacher with many years of experience teaching in schools across the North East of England and abroad. Alongside my classroom career I have worked extensively in private tuition, supporting children of all abilities from primary through to secondary level to build their confidence and attainment in maths.

I know from experience which topics Year 6 pupils find most difficult in the SATs, and I have spent years developing clear, straightforward ways of explaining them. Operation Maths is built on those methods – resources and approaches that I use every day with my students.

Qualified teacher status

Fully qualified and experienced teacher with a strong specialism in maths.

Primary teaching experience

Many years teaching across year groups in England, with a focus on Key Stage 2.

Private tuition

Extensive experience providing one-to-one maths tuition to primary and secondary students of all abilities.

The story behind Operation Maths

Operation Maths grew out of my work as a private tutor. Session after session I found myself returning to the same topics – the areas where pupils consistently lose marks in the SATs – and developing resources to address them clearly and effectively.

Over time those resources built up into a substantial bank of worksheets, support sheets and teaching materials. It made sense to make them available more widely, so that pupils, teachers and parents could access the same quality of material whether or not they were having one-to-one tuition.

Everything on the site is designed with a real classroom and real children in mind. There are no shortcuts or gimmicks – just clear teaching, well-structured practice and the confidence that comes from understanding rather than just memorising.
